Isn’t it about time to stop referring to Republicans as “conservative?” How about the “Chaos Party” or the “Anti-democratic Party, or the Criminal Conspirator Party, or the “Party of Liars and Bigots?”
I would settle for the most obvious, The Fascist Party? Whatever we decide, they haven’t been conservative for AT LEAST A DECADE.
Thank you, Rick, and the Lincoln Project, for leading the ongoing fight against this American Caesar. L:et's hope the Trump voters who thought all Trump's threats of retribution were campaign bluster have a collective epiphany when their lives are turned upside down and their jobs and incomes wither, or their family and friends wind up in private prison compounds in the deserts out west. As for the election itself: Lucian Truscott pointed out that Trump's so-called gains among Black and Hispanic voters only increased his vote total marginally: Trump's 76+ million was about 2+ million more than 2020, an increase of less than 3 percent. Harris' vote total of 73+ million was about 8 million LESS than Joe Biden's in 2020 - a drop of over 10 percent. So the problem was not that Trump increased his base - it was that Democrats DIDN'T TURN OUT, in what always going to be turnout election. So Democrats need to stop the bullshit blaming and parsing over what attracted voters to Trump, and start some soul-searching about why their own base abandoned them.
