Liz Cheney is not the only Republican to endorse Kamala Harris to date, but she is by far the most impactful. Yesterday, Liz Cheney stood on the steps of a sacred space in Republican politics in Ripon, Wisconsin, the birthplace of the Republican Party. Born in opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, the Republican Party’s origin story was a mission to end the spread of slavery, eventually right its profound injustice, and end its attendant horrors.
As dim as the embers of that first fire of the Republican Party have become in this fallen era, something of that early greatness stirred yesterday in Ripon as Liz Cheney was a modern profile in courage.

She knows that no matter the ideological and policy disagreements she may have with President Kamala Harris, those disagreements will be resolved and discussed in a framework of the law and the Constitution, a stark contrast to Trump's threat to these norms.
