There’s a line that should never be crossed in a functioning democracy, etched not in parchment but in the blood-won wisdom of two and a half centuries of American history. Soldiers don’t aim rifles at the people they swear to defend. Full stop. Presidents don’t put active duty troops in a position to be the ones to cross that bloody Rubicon.

It was a line, inviolate and honored, a division between what the Commander In Chief would order and the mere brute force of autocracies and dictatorships.

Donald Trump didn’t just tiptoe over that line. He did a little YMCA cha-cha in jackboots, grinning for the cameras as the pillars of civilian control and constitutional law cracked under the weight of his ego and the schemes of his advisors.

Let’s be clear: the deployment of active-duty United States military personnel against American citizens on American soil isn’t just a tactical overreach. It’s a political hand grenade lobbed into the core of the American experiment. And in the hands of Donald Trump, it’s not a bug or a mistake: it’s the entire damn package. This is the endgame so many around Trump have dreamt of, fetishized in their revanchist spank bank.

Now, I know what you’re thinking.
