Hegseth is more dangerous than you think. He’s the guy who’s going to effectively eliminate the military code of conduct. Trump doesn’t want any honorable leadership to get in the way of him directing “warriors” to keep U.S. citizens in line. And for sure, Hegseth will approve using the military to execute Trump’s cruel deportation scheme. And don’t forget the role he’ll play in pulling our armed forces out of the way when Putin has designs on the next country he wants to take over!
Love both Rick and George. Wish they were friends of mine! And loved this podcast. But! I have to let them both know that there are Americans who will be hurt by trump who didn’t vote for him. It won’t be just the low info voters who suffer. They are smart men so I’m not telling them anything they don’t already know. I am a white suburban non college voter with four children. I had the four children young before I knew better lol. I often feel happy knowing that I birthed four fiercely intelligent democrats. But we will suffer. My husband is a carpenter and we live right outside of dc in a very educated and expensive area. Might have to sell my house. My financial life has always been a house of cards and Donald Trump is about to huff and puff and blow my house down. But I will not be afraid. I refuse. I will make it. And I will live to vote for another dem on another day!
We all understand that real people will be hurt by Trump's policies. I hate it and I wish it weren't true. But, a plurality of my fellow citizens voted for this. I hope they are not insulated from the consequences of their vote. I sincerely hope you come out better than you fear.

I loved this conversation because it was like listening to my friends except you guys have the experience of having been in the Republican party so you're familiar with the mindset, albeit now warped into the twisted form of MAGA. And let's be honest, trump is very much his own gargoyle, a completely stunted, cognitively impaired and demented version, so exaggerated that his policy positions are less ideological than personal revolving around his two preoccupations, money and himself.

Let the MAGA's be able to tell their friends in 2-4 years, "Oh, I knew he was never really going to be able to bring down grocery prices and get rid of all the illegals, but I really thought Musk would use his billions for the good of the country (or whatever)...." Give them a way to save face for the disaster they've inflicted on us and themselves.
