The Lincoln Project team at the Democratic National Convention has been running at a breakneck pace this week, and so writing here has been a bit slower than I’d like. At the start of the week my colleague Maya May and I were having dinner Sunday night and we started working through the week. Whitney Hayes, our absolutely brilliant head of production slapped a camera on the table and said, “Go again.”
We’ve made it a nightly thing this week, and below you’ll find the first 4 episodes:
There are more Republicans here at the DNC than you can imagine:
I had a chance to sit down with Mesa, AZ Mayor John Giles, a Republican who endorsed Kamala Harris this week:
Also, a quick interview I did on the Meidas Touch Network with my friend Ken Harbaugh:
Rick, while reading this post I had a flashback to the ending of "All the President's Men", and how the final words of Ben Bradlee (Jason Robards) were the message I wanted to send you this morning.
You guys are probably pretty tired, right? Well, you should be. Go on home, get a nice hot bath. Rest up... 15 minutes. Then get your asses back in gear. We're under a lot of pressure, you know, and you put us there. Nothing's riding on this except the, uh, first amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys fuck up again, I'm going to get mad.
It's a lot to ask, but please keep the pedal to the metal for the next 75 days, because that whole "free and democratic America" thing kinda rests on the work you do.
I LOOOOOOVE Cocktails and Conversations! It is a such a wonderful follow up to the previous night’s Convention happy delirium! I hope before Election Day, T—-‘s head explodes! Stay in there!
