The Lincoln Project team at the Democratic National Convention has been running at a breakneck pace this week, and so writing here has been a bit slower than I’d like.
Rick I love that you are a “late crier” (me too). Nothing wrong with touching our hearts, it keeps us all connected. Yes, there is definitely a time to fight for what we believe in, and above it all, there are many opportunities to connect with each other. I believe it is our way out of this situation we are in. Love always triumphs. And I love Maya! More please 😁
Thank you for posting these. Rick, I used to get frustrated and angry every time I heard trump speak. But now I’m cool, calm, collected. Because he is sinking into irrelevancy fast. He’s delusional, boring, offers NOTHING to any group of Americans outside of disdain for anyone who is not him. He comes across in the most pathetic way, but I don’t feel sorry for him, I wait to witness his punishments. He will never get into the oval office ever again. Kinzinger gave a good assessment of the former Republican Party. The entire Democratic Convention was 100% inspiring. Democrats smile at the DNC, republicans sneered at theirs.
Tooling around, reading how thrilled my favorite pundits are with how things are going, not one mention of Gaza in the reports or in the hundreds of comments they've gotten. Are you and we kidding? How to reconcile the urgency of defeating Trump with ignoring what could cause a civil war here -- and could get Trump elected by Democrats refusing to vote for anyone? That it gets no mention at this convention and in the cheers for it, like yours, is as insane as Trump is.
Suzanne, Gaza was talked about. I know that some stations cut out some speakers and chat about the conference, which I hate. I watched it through YouTube on C-Span because they do wall to wall coverage without interrupting with commentary. That’s possibly why you did not hear it.
But it has been mentioned. I don’t remember by whom, but Kamala’s commitment to bringing hostages home was one instance; the need for a cease-fire and a two-state solution came up; and still-hostage Hersh’s parents were speakers on Wednesday. She’s still VP you know, properly deferential to Biden’s actions at least until November, maybe January. Not enough, but not nothing.
Good Fun, Rick, not only getting the Facts about what's happening on the ground but enjoying yourself as Well!! You know when you have a good job, when you truly enjoy what you're doing 💯💙🇺🇸
LOVE even before I've listened to each conversation. Just the smiles on your faces match those in the crowds. I've been fascinated at the number of GOP platform speakers and the interview snippets from former Trump voters. A friend in a conservative area outside Atlanta said there is at least one neighbor with a "Republicans for Trump" sign in their yard.
Do you think, speaking of the GOP, that any of the Bush or Cheney or Romney family members will endorse Harris-Walz? if you addressed that previously, apologies for asking -- tho' things are moving quickly.
And apropos of nothing exactly: what happened to Rick Perry and many of the other former-runs?
Hey rick, I forgot all about the burn pits. That the orange buffoon refuse to do anything about that. I can't say this enough, that Trump is evil, dark, malevolent and an empty life form.
Michelle Obama is the ultimate speech giver. Too bad she wants to stay out of politics—everyone else would be left in the dust. Part of the reason for her appeal stems from being real. Like Doug Emhof, she tells it like it is, and if it isn’t good how you can fix it. She shows a path forward. There is that hope thing again. Of course her dissing of Trump was epic.
I loved the conversation you two had about blended families and re-blending the U.S. Blended families seem to be all around us. They are hard work no matter how willing you are to get along. I think the analogy is excellent.
Haven't many mentioned her or Barack for SCOTUS? I can't imagine wanting to do it even if the Court should ever be expanded.
And yes, Michelle Obama and Doug Emhoff - and Gwen Walz - and their families all are real people to whom many of us relate if not in whole, certainly great parts.
I would truly hate to see them on the Court. They would be wasted in positions that are largely removed from interaction with regular people. We need them out and about! They could do amazing things with their organization.
I LOOOOOOVE Cocktails and Conversations! It is a such a wonderful follow up to the previous night’s Convention happy delirium! I hope before Election Day, T—-‘s head explodes! Stay in there!

You & the LP are national treasures!!! You are what has gotten me through these years of Trump! Thank you!

Well said Cynthia.

Enjoy the last night. We will I'm sure.
Cocktails and Conversations should be a new regular feature. It's awesome! Inject this stuff straight into my veins!

Thanks Rick.
It’s gotta be great to be there. Enjoy.
