The key to any con game is a differential in two crucial axes: information and intent. The con man always has more information, selects what to present, and crafts it into an irresistible package for the mark. The intent axis is need, and in that, the con man plays to the mark's desire, whether desperation or venality, and promises exactly what the mark wants to address that need.
My memory is that The Apprentice,as first conceived, was supposed to have a different Captains of Industry host each season - people like Welch and Iococca and Jobs, etc. But, sometimes between the first and second season of The Apprentice, it was changed to have Trump be the permanent host. As The Apprentice is, arguably, what made Trump's name to most of America (funny - when was the last time anybody made serious reference to Trump's catch phrase "You're Fired"? So much for his assumed business acumen), it, I think. Is probably worthwhile to uncover exactly how and why this decision went down.
Can anybody out there help move this story further downfield? I bet it's a story that needs to be told.

I pray to G-d that this is finally the beginning of his long, painful slide into further defeat and total obscurity. He IS a complete embarrassment to this Country on the world stage and obviously incompetent at the job of POTUS. Yet he has convinced his base that the likes of respected military Generals is nothing compared to "his" word and ONLY what he says is the truth. May we finally be done with this malignant narcissist come November although if it is, I will miss reading your "spot-on" missives.
