It's always so interesting. Another difference - Hitler was a vegetarian. I've seen footage of him and Eva and she was deeply in love with him and he with her. I still think Hitler was worse because of the number of people he killed, the tortured and the population of non-thinkers which at that time had a different approach to toilet training. My sister-in-law (she met my bro RD at Stanford law). My bro makes companies that he sells to Fortune 500 companies and doesn't practice law, let his CE units lapse but uses law in his work, speaks 5 languages and is a wonderful person. Sarah worked as a prosecutor at The Hague. As a forensic psychologist who understands the long-term effects of child separation and have written papers about it with Sarnoff Mednick Finish Schulsinger and Karen Finello review articles which translated into Japanese etc. Elaine Walker and Robert Cudeck also worked a lot on maternal separation. I do feel that Trump should be prosecuted at The Hague because of the horrendous effect of maternal and paternal separation as one of the only environmental factors that relates to schizophrenia which is a polygenic multifactorial brain disease. If you have maternal separation on top of the gene it's so much more likely to be expressed. This is a GXE interaction. Is there a lawyer around here that might be interested in opining on this before I ask my sister in law her impression and are you interested in knowing.

I highly recommend Rachel Maddow's Ultra podcast and Prequel book on America's own rise of Nazi fascism in the 1930's. Invite her to The Enemies List!

Imagine if Bannon had a real show-trial. Held captive at leisure, beaten, tortured, then forced to testify with his torturers in the front row. Then shot. Not released to fap on his podcast about Deep State. Then break for lunch.

I think he should be filmed getting a facial while "I enjoy being a girl" from flower drum song is playing. Legally it does not qualify as torture.

there's a lot to "unpack here".

COUGH.

Spot on as usual Rick. This issue to me is very simple and that is "those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it". It's like watching a bad movie being replayed today with the same stupidities as in the 1930's - a mainstream press that's organized around moral equivocation in the face of rank evil, a plutocratic fueled fascist movement armed with a blaring propaganda arm, a craven and complicit center-right political grouping, a weak-kneed center-left afraid of its political and moral power, and an (relatively) insignificant far-left focused on ideological purity instead of the existential threat staring in its face. The only difference between then and now is that those of us paying attention have direct historical insight of the danger before us.

I think we can prevail in this fight despite this cabal of traitors and seditionists. From my perspective, the challenge is whether we will have the courage and fire to attack these anti-democracy America-haters with the same moral and rhetorical aggression they have turned on us. That's the open question that we have not yet answered.

Frankly, the current GOP reminds me more of the CPSU under high stalinism. I mean, the cult of personality, the mobs baying for the blood of TRAITORS, the ludicrous faux show trials... Gym Jordan is desperately trying to be their Vyshinsky but at least Vyshinsky was smart...

You have folks who look out for your safety and support. You can look out for yourself. Safety is a factor as to my choice to leave all other platforms. Your voice is needed and it is important you stand your ground. Although my old fb account is up it too like my twitter account vanished. My Fb reappeared at some point along with several other accounts that I didn’t create under my name. I have not touched the original account in 7 years and heaven only knows what why and who is monkeying around with the accounts. This snafu happened beginning 2015. The cracra q religious fancy have a lot of fun messing around with my little existence as if I am a rockstar. Wishing them well when the unicorns fly

Thanks The Rick Wilson. Substack is a safer destination post twitter and I am relieved you have found it. I’m done with the childish nonsense of fly by night social media that serve the dis.mis information mind numbing person info harvesting sites. Here writers are appreciated rather than being a trolling mitta bs food source of platform owners deccawealth

I still use Twitter, basically under duress. It's so unrelievedly awful, not because the algo drives traffic of people with different ideas, but because it promotes people with the very worst ideas.

Don't leave twitter. I have heard of people having problems with their editors and having a huge following is an argument you can make to them. And an argument you can make to agents. I know one agent who only agents narrative non fiction with movie potential who has Pulitzer prizer winners. She was mine for a while and gave me endless notes and kept me working like a rat on on an an intermittent reinforcement schedule. (let's leave her name out of it). I have a couple writer friends that I trust. People who are poets fight with each other. Screenwriters are a special groups of people (successful ones) because they have uncommon wisdom and talent and the one I've known forever is the only one I trust with a poem or a memoir. The point is keep it. You may need it someday. You're already a public figure. I'm conflicted about whether I want to be or not but always feel free to comment or critique or like or whatever. Everyone. My advice is stay on twitter for your twitter friends who are just getting out of the hospital and whose brains are regenerating can't make the transition as quickly. All the best, leigh

Thanks. Now I’m completely depressed. I’ve been seeing/hearing about parallels to Nazi Germany for years now but the press likes to poo-poo &/or ignore them.

The wealthy elites in Germany (including Jews) funded & aided Hitler’s rise. They were afraid of communism. A large percentage of Americans (& Brits) agreed with the Nazis then. History really is repeating itself.

We have been playing scream and bang a pot for a very long time now. I feel much more relaxed that the world is finally seeing Trumpism for the anti semitic, what his daughter is Jewish, garbage train it is. Thanks for all you’ve sounded the alarm.

Your piece holds up quite well. One of the reasons I’ve written you over the years is that you had a kindred understanding of history. Please keep writing. In Substack, you seem to be able to share more of your humanity, empathy, and depth. You sound much less like an angry political hack. We need that part of you too. However, it’s wonderful to read about your other sides

I meant it to be kind, not cruel Rick. I’ve relied on your work and commentary the past 8 years to remind myself that I’m not crazy seeing the parallels of history. As Twain said, “History may not repeat, but it does rhyme”. I’ve been hearing a loud, unrelenting, discordant beat for the last 8 years.
