Well, I’ll bet Stephen’s pulled the Trump lever. He hates the guy but loves his broad policies.

Such an important message—my friends and I are reading works on many authors including Jason Stanley and Michael Sandel, to understand and discuss fascism in contemporary and historical times, including America under the incoming admin, and where we may be headed

I know this makes me the black sheep, here. But that squealing fan boy Bret Stephens is hardly alone in capitulation to Trump. What about Merrick Garland?

This soft, inept, silly, inept Attorney General simply let Trump off the hook. The Special Counsels investigation was always a joke. Something designed to look like a real investigation but, in truth, it was nothing of the kind.

And what about Alvin Bragg? You all know him. The Democratic A.G. that secured 34 indictments against Trump and then punted away last

Minute on securing a prison sentence?

Please. The democrats also caused this. How can you blame Trump and his enablers alone when Bragg and Garland are also Trumpsplainers?

And now Bragg is going to predicate Luigie Mangione but the CEO of United Health got to legally murder Americans by denying them

Health Insurance?

These are questions the democrats refuse to answer for. If the country goes down, BOTH parties will have had a hand in its doom.

Sorry Democrats, but yelling on a Substack while failing for people on our side to secure an appropriate prison term for Trump is exactly why he got reelected.

To MAGA the whole system is corrupt. And thanks to Garland and Bragg, they helped prove the Trumpers to be correct.

If you can’t see that, you’re as blind as the far right.

Omg the hypocrisy. But her emails…!

Setting aside TFG’s aiding and abetting an Insurrection, that SOB stole top secret documents. Documents so sensitive, some of them belonged in the scif under guard. 33 counts against that scum were for espionage. We won’t know the full extent of his complicity and crimes thanks to corrupted judge Cannon.

Let it go, huh? Done with never trumpers?

Rule of law? Nah. That’s just for the rich and well connected.

Go to hell.

“We sounded the alarm early and often. Trump hasn’t changed; what’s changed is his courtiers' obsequiousness and his enablers' brazenness. Stephens’s genteel shrug—his holiday wish to look away—is how democracies fall: not through a single cataclysm but through a slow erosion, aided by polite excuses and reluctant nods.”

This is the crux of it, isn’t it? Rather than going quietly into the night after giving up, Stephen’s felt compelled to publicly accept defeat, and blame those who fought. Without the resistance against the Nazi’s in WWII, how many more would have died? This is Vichy all over again. I understand the need or desire to protect ones-self, but to do it so publicly, and to try to justify it in such a weak and intellectually dishonest way, is just sad and embarrassing.
