There is no bottom for them and they are shit grinning happy down in the gutter...
That's the only place they can feel superior... All for cheaper eggs... NO...but just for the hell of it... We, the sane people, should not have to be subjected to half of this country being able to bring us down with them... We are polar opposites... Let's face it... They should have been cut loose when they wanted out. Is it too late to take them up on that?
I think the majority of us are exhausted from their stupidity and would be more than happy to have them take Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi etc as long as they head for the EXIT sign and don't let the door hit you on your way out!
You have expressed my sentiments exactly. I am 77 and expect to be living in a right-wing nightmare for the rest of my life. I am extremely angry at so many of our fellow Americans. Do they have amnesia? Do they expect the incompetent fool who fumbled the Covid crisis to lower their prices. Or the narcissist who is so self-absorbed that he promises only revenge. He has no plans to lower inflation or to make people's lives better but these idiots voted for him anyhow.
The fact that this January 6 was uneventful is the biggest condemnation trump and his psychophants could ever receive. That's how it should have gone in 2021 but a thin skinned, whinny bitch could not take it. Shame on them and all the criminals who support him.
"The absence of immediate legal consequences—investigations and prosecutions snuffed out for purely political reasons—doesn’t translate into innocence....His re-election was not a pardon."
Thank you for stating this clearly. Sadly, while his re-election wasn't a pardon and doesn't exonerate him, it sure as hell makes a deeply disturbing statement about us. Are we finally too stupid for democracy?
Is Mark Zuckerberg joining Muskrat and Bezos as the biggest pieces of shit in economic and moral history? New META free speech policies/ no fact check legitimize Jan. 6 and much worse to come. Oh God, justice is yours’, so you promise!
Today represents a well of sadness filled with the grief of those who love their country and are fearful for its future. When Kamala Harris pronounced the last words of the peaceful transfer of power, I became transfixed with Mike Johnson's facial expressions. It started with him looking at her with a small smirk of enjoyment. Then something must have twigged in his brain that made him think this isn't a good look and he put an expression of seriousness on his face. That was all I needed to see in order to close the well of sadness and let a different response emerge.
Day of Infamy is exactly what it was. The fpotus becoming president via the electoral vote Jan. 6th, 2025 is another. So will inauguration day 2025. The stigma of a USA-hating, greedy con man, lawless president, is an infinite stain on our history.
It's on my calender every year. And will be till the day I die. Adam kinsinger did a good video today also. Thanks for all you do rick. Stay safe. The shit is about to hit the fan. Total fubar.
Collectively, American citizens should be prepared to stop the rubber-stamp judiciary and SCOTUS that allow Trump to run amok with illegal acts. He is a convicted felon! Such citizens are not given the right to VOTE. How, in God's name, does Trump have any right to have run for, and then take over, the Presidential Office. He has worked nonstop to dismantle our judiciary and democracy itself. What options do U.S. citizens have in stopping this overthrow?
Sorry to partly disagree but economic anxiety was real and the Dems lost their way by not addressing it. You don’t lose 47% of the Latino vote because of differing visions for America. You lose it because for so many lower middle class low propensity voters the price of eggs and gas really is more important than the defense of democracy. Trump got this and scooped up those voters. The Dems have so much to learn, and so little time to learn it.
Must be nice to be an expat, Alan. I'm not; I can't afford it so I'm stuck living here and in a dysfunctional relationship loving such a troubled place, but I do. This analysis gives me the impression you paid zero attention to the campaign. These low propensity voters didn't vote on "economic anxiety." Kamala had concrete economic plans for those voters that were in every single one of her ads and stump speeches; Trump had absurd, unbelievable promises he never explained and which he's now saying he can't do. They didn't vote on a different vision of democracy.
Yep, I was told “I wish we had better choices.” That’s code for not voting for a woman or a person of color in the South. I know, having been a child during Jim Crow. And these white evangelical preachers telling their congregations to vote for trump. Sickening and disgusting all the way around.
We disagree. All Harris had was this meaningless phrase, the “opportunity economy.” I listened to many of her speeches and she rarely mentioned any concrete economic plans. In a few speeches she got a bit more specific but not in ways that would address inflation or immigration. In other words, not where people live. When she said on the View that there wasn’t anything she would do differently from Biden, that’s when she lost many of these voters.
Of course Trump had absurd impractical promises. He’s a moron. But the low information voters were willing to take a chance, remembering, wrongly, but this was their perception, that “things were better under Trump.” Harris’s answer to that was vague and not helpful.
What I actually did pay attention to was the group discussions the New York Times had with these undecided voters. It was deeply depressing reading. After reading those I was pretty sure Harris would lose.
But whether you and I like the result or not, you simply cannot dismiss 47% of Latino voters as voting on “blind racial and ethnic hatred.” They and the other lower middle class voters who gave Trump the election voted based on what they saw in front of them. And they didn’t like it.
And yes, it is nice to be an expat. i’m sorry your circumstances don’t allow you to join us here in a country with universal health care and reasonable gun control.
Trying to make this into an ad hominem argument is a sure sign that you're not very confident in your points. I will not be gaslit into believing that because I'm concerned about racial/ethnic hatred, this somehow, by some peculiar alchemy, must mean that I _am_ a race hater. A tad disingenuous, no?
You can't be implying that Trump addressed inflation; his single answer to all economic questions was tariffs, tariffs, tariffs (next in line was drill, baby, drill). He now admits he can't do bupkis about lowering prices. No one in politics faces up to this, but while the inflation rate can be brought close to zero, prices _never_ go back down. If they did, it would be deflation and economic contraction. This is why Kamala proposed criminal penalties for corporate price gouging. You may have questions about the practicality, but it addresses one of the problems at its source, which is absolutely excessive corporate greed.
Joe Biden saved countless small businesses from going under with the American Rescue Plan; how quickly people forget the economic realities of the pandemic. You would have seen them fail to shave a few points off inflation? Not Kamala.
The Latinos who voted for Trump were convinced that _they_ weren't the ones who'd be deported. This is a very common fear reaction in targeted groups, like the Jews in Germany who counted on being assimilated pillars of the community. Now it's turning out that they might very well be deported (Project 2025 explicitly calls for repealing birthright citizenship) if they were "anchor babies" and their parents were illegals or might be deported just because they're brown people. Their buyer's remorse is off the scale, as it is with the Palestinian-American Uncommitted movement who either didn't vote for Kamala or voted for Trump in protest and are _just now_ waking up to how close Trump is to Bibi and his wretched son-in-law's plans to build luxury high-rises on the Gaza coast.
So yes, they were motivated indirectly by the racial / ethnic hatred of MAGA. They only thought that by voting for him, they could somehow spare themselves.
Alan, respectfully it is kinda sad when you drastically edited your post and removed the part that if I was implying that 47% of Latino voters had racial motives, that I might have some myself. That's a paraphrase of course; I had intended to quote the original line back to you.
In my faith tradition (I‘m a PC-USA Presbyterian), we observe January 6 as Epiphany. It’s a day of spiritual disclosure and revelation. Four years ago today, Donald Trump revealed exactly who he is. In a way that was unequivocal to those who had the eyes to see it, he showed us that he is a scoundrel and a traitor, a man who is ruthless towards anyone who tries to thwart his ambition.
Rick... MAGA want our country to fail...
There is no bottom for them and they are shit grinning happy down in the gutter...

You are soooo correct; his reelection does not erase the crime he perpetrated on our country!!!!

I’m getting ready to read this, Rick, but first wanted to thank you for the podcast of this morning which again, had a way of making me feel better.

@therickwilson can I ask what is political gravity and how has 45 diminished his?

I noticed that smirk, too.

Jan 6, the Republican day of shame.

So yes, they were motivated indirectly by the racial / ethnic hatred of MAGA. They only thought that by voting for him, they could somehow spare themselves.
And they're finding out that they were wrong.
Well this discussion is getting sad.
No I didn’t go ad hominem and I never wrote or implied that you are a race hater. Clearly you are not.
And yes of course the Latino and other voters may well suffer under Trump. They don’t realize what may be coming for them.
Except for your first paragraph I don’t disagree with anything you’ve written in this post.
Alan, respectfully it is kinda sad when you drastically edited your post and removed the part that if I was implying that 47% of Latino voters had racial motives, that I might have some myself. That's a paraphrase of course; I had intended to quote the original line back to you.
I removed it because I gave it more thought and decided it was unfair and wrong.

I agree, it's a concerning time for our democracy.
Jan6 should be a day of mourning and resolve: we’re not going back!
