If the Trump odor thing is true (and given he clearly wears adult diapers I assume it is) then why hasn’t one journalist mentioned it after interviewing him? I know for a fact they would mention it if Biden wore diapers even with no smell, so is it time to pressure Swann & Haberman to pass on the fact that Trump stunk during their interview

Hope goes in the trash bin with thoughts and prayers. Trump in a second term would end the American experiment.

Hope is the last resort. Hope. Is that feeling you have, after you've done everything you could possibly do to accomplish, and protect what is important to you.

It felt really good to read this article. nailed it. Thank you.

Don’t let the BS arguments root. Call them out and shut them down, anywhere you see/hear them shut them down. It was an insurrection, he is a criminal, there is no policy except control for these clowns. They are not conservative, they are extremists.

As an independent in flori-duh should I change to republican so I can vote for someone other than trump in the primary? Or is that a non move. ?

Another great one, Rick. Thanks! I'm now thoroughly exhausted to just think what lay ahead, as if all of us having to become constitutional, judicial, and coup experts overnight hadn't been enough. But you're right. We have to know how to play both offense and defense in this game of "Save Democracy" so thanks for the fantastic tips. Happy New Year and we'll see you back on the field. New year, new game play!

We must explain what the stakes are. You are either voting for Biden to keep democracy or Trump/third party for dictatorship.

It’s that simple

2015 was the start of the second American revolution; it started with a whimper but has been growing with enthusiasm.

The first revolution fought from 1765 to 1783 was foremost to gain political independence from England and the monarchy. This revolution is foremost to remake America into a monarchy, AKA dictatorship.

The first whimper of this revolution was the humming emanating from the escalator Trump descended on to announce his 2016 presidential campaign.

Many believed, hoped, or prayed this was simply a publicity stunt, but as we found out, this was the beginning of the Trump cult. Trumpers are hardcore sycophants hoping to gain his approval.

I know some Trump sycophants; many are relatives, and some are acquaintances. I can not and will not call any of them friends because if they can support Trump, their morals and values are far removed from mine.

Trump is an egomaniac and a narcissist, among so many other traits, none of which are admirable. He is a blight on America, an open wound, a cancer!

The number one reason people support Trump is they are afraid of immigration. They are scared of people of color. They are frightened that white lives won’t matter more than black and brown lives.

And, yes, that is racism!

Stopping Immigration is the cornerstone of Trump's platform. A scare tactic that uninformed and uneducated Americans buy into.

Trump separated families and put children behind bars. Reminiscent of the US interning people of Japanese decent during WW2, separating blacks and whites in the military and segregating schools. These policies were fear-based, and we paid a high price for that foolishness.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but opinions should not be based on bogus facts.

The total number of Mexican immigrants living in the US has been on the decline for more than a decade. An estimated 10.7 million Mexican immigrants lived in the US in 2021, roughly 1 million fewer than a decade earlier. 13.6% of the US population are immigrants, about the same as a century ago.

The idea that America was “made great” by Donald Trump is a fantasy. He was the worst president in American history and totally responsible for our national deterioration.

Don’t be gullible for hustlers like Trump. He is a modern-day carpet bagger!

I am underwhelmed with both of our presidential choices in 2024; they are both too old, they are both cognitively failing, they are both slowing down.

But only Trump is pure evil.

well said, Jane. Trump and his apologists and propagandists are exploiting every possible fear and divisive issue. Madeleine Albright said that fascism is about stirring people up and giving them someone to hate. That's Hitler's playbook from the 1930s (his slogan was "Make Germany Great Again") and that's Trump's playbook today.

Dangerous times, and I agree that Trump is pure evil, because he knows he lost but his ego can't take it, so he's willing to destroy democracy to placate his empty soul. All dictators will take down their country to save themselves.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat's book "Strongmen" show how Trump fits right into the mold of Hitler, Stalin, Putin, and a whole line of selfish, egomaniacal pyschopaths.

Thanks for calling him out.

Problem is (1) his well-oiled machine of enablers and propoganmdists and (2) his massive cult-like followers who believe him because he gives them permission to be selfish, racist, delusion, violent, anti-democratic, criminals.

"I could kill someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it" - that's not a statement from a law-abiding American patriot, that's the stir-up-the-mob rant of a dictator-in-waiting. And his angry, violent, delusion cult-followers are just itching to trample the Constitution on their road to fascist power. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, and every time history repeats, the cost goes up.

Here's my take on Trumpism:

The opposition against Trump is mostly a tantrum of the elite fearing that they are going to look like the same fools they did in 2016.

For most left-leaning politicos, having to admit they are wrong about anything is worse than death. I mean really... to have to admit they are wrong while also paying off all those student loans... well that will hurt egos yugely.

The problem is that this fear and anger basis is making Democrats blind to the political realities. I live in a liberal community in a liberal state. Many of them have fled to other places over the last several months as their politics had made their home place unlivable. I talk to them and they are getting more red-pilled every day because as the same is done to the entire country, there are no other places in the country they can flee to. The kids of our friends that left to live in the UK... they and their liberal family have red-pilled watching what the left in power did to people during the pandemic. Eyes are open and opening more. Without the raging female vote of Dodd, I think this next election could break so Red that the Democrats will end up only a footnote.

Frank, beware of what you call " the raging female vote of Dodd" - you (and Trump and his apologists) are patronizing HALF the voting population, not a smart move.

well Frank, once again you are generalizing and stereotyping ; from your perspective, all anti-Trumpers are well-off big city and coastal elites.

All 85 million?

Maybe there are some normal people in there who see:

Trumpism as Fascism

Trump himself as a psychopathic wanna-be Dictator/cult leader.

And his followers (you excluded, of course) as Kool-aid drinkers.

Was this lifted as a satire pieced from the Babylon Bee or The Onion? If not, it is demonstrating some emergency need for cognitive behavior therapy.

Other than the Godwin's Law foul, today this paragraph above is a perfect description of life under the Biden Democrat regime.... unless you are one of those well-off coastal and big city liberals surveying things from the comfort of your security guard protected exclusive gated community.

ARGH...

I prefer a POSITIVE campaign. Fighting and attacking are tiring, and also, boring. It is time for those with articulate energy to inspire this country with our current actions, plans, and aspirations. [That is not boring!]

And, just as a forgotten aside, why have we forgotten East Palestine, Ohio? Both Palestines are being treated like their lives do not matter. [Joe must visit there...with Pete Buttigieg, and plans that Sherrod Brown can proclaim.]

Expand full comment

Valerie, when you're facing down a violent, delusional mob, a nice positive campaign won't work.

Like it or not, democracy is on the line, and Trump's neo-fascist regime - if elected - will trample all over American civil liberties.

Sadly, this is no time for Mr. Nice Guy Joe; it's time for Fighting Joe. America needs a leader to stand up to a psychopathic neo-fascist cult leader. Aspirations are great, but they don't work when the Jan.6 storm troopers come to town.

A song from the past had a line: "this ain't no disco, this ain't no party, this ain't no foolin' around.

Trump and his violent delusion MAGA cult are too dangerous. They're a cancer on American politics, and Very Strong Medicine is called for.

Well, "argue for that reality and it shall be yours." My argument: Truth is a powerful weapon. How it's delivered matters. "Life During Wartime" song perfectly fits what you describe!

This discussion will dominate (and should) how Trump can be prevented from acquiring any more power, much less power in our executive branch. So many people are committed to seeing that he's never elected to office including Liz Cheney, Cassidy Hutchinson, formerly highly involved and loyal Republicans...can't picture them with hand grenades. They each have unusual skills from experience: Liz had a father who got away with murder [Iraq war], and Cassidy grew up with a father as self-centered and emotionally undisciplined at Trump. So I'm calling for all to contribute in ways they may be good at.

“It’s not Resistance Porn to attack Trump constantly; it’s a proven, demonstrated, and successful campaign strategy.”

Really? Without the pandemic to mask election shenanigans, Trump would still be President. Attacking Trump this way attacks half of the electorate too.

No, Joe Biden is disliked because the state of the US sucks badly for the non-elite. For them, life under Trump was much better... with the added bonus seeing the elite with their political hair on fire.

"the US sucks badly for the non-elite"

Frank, you seem to see the US as divided into 2 groups: the Elites and then all the other good 'ol American patriots.

So by your calculation, the 80+ million people who voted for Biden in 2020 are all Elites "surveying things from the comfort of your security guard protected exclusive gated community"
