This is so not 2016. Hillary had the emails around her neck like an albatross. Then James Comey, to appease the Rudy fanbois in SDNY, gave that pointless "extremely careless" press conference and worse yet, made another appearance, like Rudy rising from the grave, because of Anthony Weiner's laptop, which also panned out to nothing. But then we had the polls. Nearly all of them said that Hillary would win; a Trump win was inconceivable. Who here will _ever_ forgive Nate Silver for saying that Hillary had an 80% victory chance on election eve? I never will; his name is dirt to me.
Furthermore, Hillary wasn't the greatest candidate. I personally love Hillary and think she would have made an excellent president but she was never comfortable with retail campaigning and Robby Mook's data analytics were shit, so she missed rallying in the Blue Wall at the crucial moment.
Kamala Harris isn't making those mistakes.
As for the demoralization tactics, I get the general lib-owning idea. But I also think keeping Democrats and Harris supporters on the edge of their seats helps our side, not theirs. I think some of the cooked polls are aimed at an audience of one to provide fodder for the inevitable rigged election conspiracy theories. But polls showing Trump up creates complacency in their side this time, not ours.
I'm not one to panic. I held firm on Biden long after everyone started to freak out. I've been doing my best in these threads to talk down the existential angst so many good people feel. I don't feel existential angst because I keep the fundamentals in mind. You don't have to put your soul in hock to Allan Lichtman. There are no individual talismans. But there is a broad set of dynamics.
And you are dead right about them, Rick Wilson. Onward!
“Dogsh*t cicadas“ for the win. Thank you, Rick. I’ve never been so calm and stoic before an election. Don’t take the poison and fly the plane. Stick to the plan: vote!
Amen, brother.
