I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by these Republicans. They know that if Democrats vote in numbers they would never win another election, ever. That's why the US is the only country in the world with an electoral college system. The entire government is set up for minority rule. Instead of coming up with better policies Republicans put all their eggs in the electoral college system. Their policies for decades are, smaller government (whatever that means since no one has ever articulated it) lower taxes (mainly for the wealthy and corporations) and less regulations. Now I suppose less regulations could go hand in hand with smaller government. For instance we could do away completely with the FDA. What could go wrong with not regulating the food industry? If a ranchers herd of cows had hoof and mouth or mad cow, why shouldn't he be able to bring that meat to market. Fully cooked I'm sure it would be fine. For drugs, what's with all the testing and trials. Make a pill send It to market and hope it works. If you want to test it somehow give the first dose to Rand Paul and just tell him it hasn't gone through any gain of function. How about all these stupid building codes. Why can't you have 150 junction boxes in your house hidden behind drywall. Why do you need a steel or LVL beam for support when 2x4's are much cheaper? Why can't corporations just dump toxic waste into rivers and streams? Do you know how much it costs to get rid of it properly?
The Republicans like all these little rules that allow for minority rule, since that's where they spend the majority of their time and they will do anything to grab that power regardless of the cost to the country. Anything!
Once upon a time I so enjoyed engaging high school seniors with legislative processes within the Constitution. Today's Capitol Hill is beyond embarrassing right into ineffectiveness. Our republic is in danger because of those selected to serve.

I watched his interview and you missed the main point that Chris Sununu made. He favors Trump Because it means the Republicans will be in the White House. If you ask me that's the only reason someone would vote for Trump.
And that underlines George Stephanopoulos's critique. It makes it all about red team vs blue team and nothing at all about values, morality or preserving our form of government.
