The two-minute Fox video clip of Watters receiving advice from his mother during his first night as new-Tucker is ... amusing if nothing else. It made the online rounds in mid July (e g , The View).

"Do not tumble into any conspiracy rabbit holes"

"We want no law suits."

"Do no harm "

"We need you to be kind and respectful... I get that humble is a stretch."

"Use your voice responsibly."

"There really has been enough Biden bashing and the laptop is old "

"Perhaps you could suggest that your people take less interest in other people's bodies, for example, and talk about that."

"I want you to seek solutions versus fanning the flames "

"You could encourage that Bedminster friend of yours to return to his earlier career in television - everyone in his audience could wear a red hat."

I think it's important to give the Biden messaging machine credit where it is due. He has not taken ANY of the bait designed to push away swing voters. Many wanted him to punch back harder, but that would have been wrestling with a pig. Not that I read this essay as a criticism - but some are.

That stink doesn't sell here. Sorry. Go back to the Xitter.

Say whatever you want about Biden, and least he doesn't want to mow down protesters.

Quite simply, I wish you were Biden’s campaign manager.

The campaign is doing quite well.

But yes, it's all hands on deck.

My 80+ mom meets with three of her high school friends every week for lunch. One of them marinates in that stuff, most likely rewinds that lying pustule to watch over and over. The three friends dread her bringing up politics. It starts. “Biden is getting us into all these wars. They never tried this when Trump was...” Three friends who she’s known, trusted, and loved for seventy years can’t convince her it’s bullshit. It’s real body snatchers stuff, and it breaks the hearts of these sweet old ladies.

The scary part is, I watched the Fox clip and saw a quite logical story... if I hadn’t read on what Rick had to say, I would have been one step closer to the abyss. So for me, it wasn’t as clearly false. And attractive because it sounds like there are simple cause and effect relationships, and that the solutions are obvious.

"Juggernaut?" What juggernaut? Unlike the United States, that invades countries at the drop of a hat, Irani has not invaded country since the days of the Persian Empire in the fourth century BC. Same thing goes for China. China's "juggernaut "consists of one foreign base, in Djibouti. As for Russia, it's common knowledge that the West forced Putin to act and even torpedoed the talks in Türkiye in March 2022 between Zelenskyy and Putin that could have prevented the invasion. The only "juggernaut" I know about is the United States of America. Your Russophobia and Sinophobia don't work with me. You need to check your facts, Rick.

"Facts" like "It's common knowledge"? You sad, deluded fool.

"The prospect of a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine grew on Saturday as a top negotiator for Kyiv said Moscow largely agreed to their proposals, at least "verbally," with the draft document having reached the stage where it is to be discussed by the countries' respective leaders...

"Negotiator David Arakhamia told Ukrainian television channels that any meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin would "with a high probability" take place in Turkey, in Istanbul or Ankara...

"Since Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine, Zelenskyy has repeatedly called for face-to-face talks with his Russian counterpart." April 2, 2022.

I missed the part where "the west forced Putin to act" which is common knowledge according to you and therefore a fact. Do you actually not know what a fact is?

Fox is obviously a herpes sore on the face of the news industry but we know what they are. I also think that Fox viewers are beyond rescuing - they've been assimilated and will just squawk whatever this Watters Sport feeds them.

I'm more concerned with the alleged "real news media". Their chickenshit bothsidesism is the real danger. And they apply it everywhere. I recently read an interview with the editor of a Jewish magazine who said "I'm done with 'yes but Israel...'" I couldn't agree more - the two sides are NOT both equally deserving of being treated with respect. I wish the CNNs of the world finally figured that out.

Totally in agreement with you here. Where are the images you refer to? Words are good but images are more powerful and easy to grasp.

I always wonder about the end game at FOX, what are their goals? If destabilizing our country, and weakening our ability to lead are their goals, couldn't that be called treasonous? Is there anything that can be done legally to stop or discredit them?

It's very dangerous for the world really to have them continue to spout these lies.

Excellent advice.

Combatting right-wing propaganda, lazy Beltway journalism, and far too much apathy on the left is a heavy lift...but it's not impossible.

Spain has pushed back on its extremist right flank. Polish citizens turned out in record numbers to dethrone an extremely repressive autocratic regime.

If enough people put aside their desire for the "perfect" candidate, ignore the massive egos of Dean Phillips, Cornell West, and RFK, Jr, and vote on the single issue of preserving democracy...we can avoid the very real horrors of a GOP trifecta in 2024.

Rick,

Re: Fox Evening Entertainment (aka Fox "News"

Recently, Sarah Longwell of The Bulwark shared a story of her being a guest speaker to some organization forum about News media.

She was preceeded in speaking by Laura Ingraham, who was more honest than expected by saying "News is boring, so that's why Fox wants to get people coming back and 'spice up' our presentations."

[I guess that's an example that sometimes FOX does fall into telling the truth.]

Sarah was so incensed that she tossed her intended speech and took on the bullshit that news is supposed to be entertainment.
