Hopefully, a severe and unexpected(?) heart attack might be our salvation? It can and does happen to many older, overweight, MEN who have poor diets and little exercise!

2024 is gonna be a total shit show. World War ll, as Trump would describe it. Expect violence. The crapulous alchemy of Trumpism, (best description of Maga’s I’ve heard yet, btw), will not go quietly. Every last soul needs to vote, no exceptions. This vermin must be eradicated fully and finally or we might as well chuck it all in and jump off a bridge somewhere. It feels like forever with this asshole. I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted.

Exactly what Americans don’t seem to be able to come to terms with- this is where we are. Toxic positivity would kill US if we let it. Helpful piece.

I love your versatility. The piece shows your mind and how it sparkles. Some points of direction: there is the Rick Wilson punch in here. I find it be here "I hate playing this role, but as the Cassandra of American politics, I apparently must." That first line wakes me and shakes me. I'd shorten it. It's a short thought piece. Then just try writing a raunchy piece with the type of dirty, dark humor we've come to love and expect. Be who you be, Rick. A wise man who knows his stuff, yes. But also someone who dazzles with the prisms like turning a diamond. Women love to know how you see us. I got a kick out of you saying (Are we supposed to feel aroused by Ivanka's voice." Everything about her is inauthentic as, I'm guess are her breasts. Trump invested his daughter by his "special relationship with her. Howard Stern projects when he says Trump could benefit from therapy, No, In my view he is untreatable. Any chapter on psychopathy should be the shortest in any book. My great respect is with you always,

I neglected to mention Morrow. Many of Churchills women were involved in some way with the Americans. My mind wanders to what kind of incredible fucks these women must have been and if I could wrap my snatch around a penis and caress it as I've been getting ready to do. Beyond that maybe someone could tell me what happened to Mozarts sister. It could not have caused anyone as much anguish at it has caused me, for I do not know,

You ask what I think. Biden won by 7 million votes. Voting occurred before the J6 insurrection. Do you honestly believe he GAINED votes from that? Biden wasn't my choice and I know media all want to focus on age. But J6 is a moment in our history that will never be forgotten and Trump's role in it will not be either. Democrats need to get their act together and have needed to do so for a long time now. But Biden does not lose to Trump.

Glad to see you here on Substack Rick! I found my way here by way of Steve Schmidt’s “The Warning”. IMHO this is the best online forum at the moment. The most civil, the best informed, with the best communities. I can only hope that it stays that way. I heard you mention your Substack article while listening to you and Stuart on Resolute Square. So I hustled right over and subscribed!

Steve Schmidt is an excellent eye banger, Beyond that, I wish he would disappear. He made us read 500 pages in a week. I came prepared to talk about the book. He did not show the first day, but ambushed me in a tape, He was not there psychologically on the second discussion group. I came prepared for a discussion. What I got was an unprepared man struggling to understand the point of the book he recommended. I might have paid for an hour of eye banging while discussing the role of the critical triad mentioned in the book: Kennedy; Winant (the non anti-Semite who replaced Kennedy and made the whole thing work). He interrupted me each time I spoke, saying things like: "Everyone was anti-Semitic." Not a careful thinker. He bullied Maggie Haberman, was censured by the Group of female investigative journalists. Thanks God for Dean Banquet who sticks up for his reporters. Schmidt, having ripped off large sums of money is a greedy pig who pays his Golf Club a 200,000 dollar initiation fee, 18000 dollars a month to play with his buddies which stiffing Angela Schmidt his ex for her mortgage of 10,000 dollars as it reads in his divorce proceeding. He stiffs the mother of his children, Dear Rick, please don't demean yourself by being on a show with him JMAO love, leigh

Your analysis and insight is a very real necessity in the fight to save our country and our democracy. The in your face truth you provided is needed. I am grateful that you and your colleagues at Resolute Desk and elsewhere have continued this fight with success in 2020 and I hope going forward. Keep up the outstanding work!

My one consoling thought is that no one lives forever. Relative to that point, an obese 77-year-old man with an appalling diet, and a serious anger control issue, is really pushing his luck...

"too few think he might walk from any of these cases and underestimate the cascade effect, both legally and politically, of what will happen to the other cases when he does."

You make a crucially important point you make here, Rick. This will be especially true if the jury hangs, or God forbid, acquits him in the J6 trial. If either happens, he will boast "COMPLETE VINDICATION EXONERATION" etc. The resulting Trump victimization and whitewashing by conservative media, along with a bitterly pissed off violent MAGA base, could careen his leftover cases hand Trump a decisive victory in Nov. '24. This is not a far-fetched scenario

The racism and sexism of our very own neighbors and family members that Trump activates and relies on, is scary, appalling and motivating. You are a motivator, Rick. The loss of subtle social deference and privileges that men and white people cling to by their fingernails fuels Trump's rocket. By creating greater equality and prosperity to fulfill the promise of America, Biden incites the racists and sexists to greater extremes. It's a fight unto defeat that we can't stop fighting until we win - why Ukraine is so emblematic.

What I worry about is a situation like the one after June 6, 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated. My family and I saw him a week before campaigning in Portland Oregon. My sister worked on his campaign and we all got to meet him and shake his hand. I was more interested in shaking John Glenn's who was with him.

After Bobby's assassination, and despite McGovern's politics the Democratic Party just could not muster enough enthusiasm and Nixon rode to an easy victory. Similarly Biden is on blood thinners (I am on the same one) or for other age-related reasons is a tenuous candidate. With the dangerous froth whipped up by Trump there is a good chance some MAGA will also be aiming for him. I suspect the Democrats could potentially lose their heart again if he suddenly passed away, despite the planet's survival being at stake.

Frankly though, Biden's age has nothing to do with it. The fascists will put a target on the back of anyone who wins the Democratic nomination. Its also not too far fetched that they would receive support from Russia. I hope that the CIA, FBI and Secret Service are doing their job.

Meanwhile, it would be great if McConnell was the Republican Front Runner. It would be fun to see what happens when he "pauses" during the debate. Its as if someone forgot to put the old rotary phone onto the modem cradle when connecting with the Intranets. "McConnell For President!" I hope that your Project does a parody campaign ad for Mitch for President! Could be fun.

6500mph would be Mach 8.5. I don't think the sled went that fast, Rick. Maybe you are off a decimal point. 650mph is more likely.

If it does go that fast, lets strap Trump to it and see what happens. It will be so Gggeat that You'll Never believe It.

Casey

PS I just looked this up. I stand corrected! OMG. Still, let's strap Trump to it and see what happens....

I work with college kids in a *very* red state. In general, they are more socially progressive than you would think. However, there is a vocal contingent, mostly white and male, who have bought Charlie Kirk's nonsense. Those are the ones I worry about. The others are exhausted and bored with most of the culture war stuff. The ones that aren't are all in, loud, angry, and aggrieved. And guess who they love?

You have nailed it, Rick, as usual. This column gives me the willies and I’ll find it very hard to sleep tonight but it’s going out to family members so that they too can face reality and maybe we can comfort each other in the wee hours of this night.
