founding

I highly recommend The Empire podcast’s current series on The American Empire. Yes, Europeans see the founding of America as an empire.

For a nice fill-in on American history, try The Rest of History podcast’s series on Custer & Little Big Horn. Custer is such a complex person. That conflict is also present from the point of view of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. The Republican Party’s growth after the Civil War fills in a spot of political history.

While everyone was preoccupied with the idiotic and dangerous pizzagate and Hillary's emails, Trump was doing the 'shell game' with election fraud. He's so slippery, he commits crimes right before the American peoples' eyes. The media is surely complicit in Trump getting any credence at all. They need to stop interviewing Trump and his sycophants in Congress who speak over them on the airwaves, and treat them like the liars, idiots and whore-mongers they really are. So well said...My question is this..didn't he SWEAR he would NOT run his business while in office? Isn't signing all those checks to Michael show he did?

Look, this was not some trivial case. This was a case about election interference. If Trump and his co-conspirators hadn't committed these crimes it is more than likely that he never would have seen the Oval Office except on a visitor's tour.

How many COVID-19 victims would still be alive if we'd had a competent person in the White House during the pandemic? We'll never know, but there are tens of thousands of families who are haunted by that question.

Upholding the law regardless of the identity of the lawbreaker is a positive measure. Our country is in better shape than I had dared to hope.

I'm Atheist, but AMEN and Hallelujah!!!

This may not be the end but it's a great beginning! If this was a least likely case to bring him down, then I can't wait for the stollen documents and the Insurrection cases.

Yea, the MAGAs will fork over their Social Security checks to him just to feel like they're ensuring victory in November. But, as we all know, that money won't go toward the campaign, it'll go to linning DFG's comfy nest and paying his lawyers some money (but, most likely not their whole fees).

This verdict has shown us (again) that he's not going to win this election. How many more losses will it take for the media to recognize that? How much more losing will it take for reporters to finally realize that "bothsidzing" every story isn't building their careers? And, will we normies ever believe them again? It's pretty hard to right now but, maybe there will be a time when news actually means unbiased reporting of actual facts.

In the meanwhile, we need to support and fund the Biden/Harris campaign. We need to pry this wedge open and overwhelm the MAGA party with the truth. With the accomplishments this administration has made for our benefit. We need to show those of us who are timid and shy about politics that it's imperative they participate to secure our democracy.

Use some common sense. Thirty plus counts, ridiculous and overkill. Court in New York with biased DA and judge. Murdering thugs released but a former President being harassed over bookkeeping items and having his house raided . Joe and his family making fortunes over international deals but nothing happens there. The country falling apart but it is President Trump that is your focus. Wake up people. Look at gas and grocery prices. Look at the harm of the experimental gene altering bio weapon that is continuing to be endorsed. There is another agenda of evil here and it is staring you squarely in the face. But you are all celebrating some stupid trial that found bad orange man guilty. Get your priorities in order. Our country is on its way out.

Sweetie, turn off Faux "News", you're in a cult. Not only that, you sound ridiculous.

Thanks but I don’t listen to Fox News. Mostly independent podcasts. Where do you get your “facts” from?

I could not agree more- upholding the law regardless of the identity of the lawbreaker is a positive measure. Too bad that is not what is happening today. And I hope that the true election interference is shown brightly for all to see. Agree to disagree on your other statements but I appreciate your respectful comments.

That is exactly the sort of demented conspiracy theory one would expect from the Christian version of al Qaeda.

Expand full comment

Conspiracy theory was a term created by the CIA to cover up the truth. Otherwise, we call the concept stupid, illogical and or nonsensical. When it is true and you do not like it because it is uncomfortable, it is called a "Conspiracy Theory". Very convenient.

Expand full comment

That, in itself, is a conspiracy theory. Look, dude, you're a lunatic. I don't know how sober you are, but you're "Christian" the way al Qaeda is "Islamic." Anti-vaxxers deserve zero patience from anybody with a brain. You don't have the tiniest clue what objective reality even is.

Conspiracy theory…

"The earliest known usage was by the American author Charles Astor Bristed, in a letter to the editor published in The New York Times on January 11, 1863. He used it to refer to claims that British aristocrats were intentionally weakening the United States during the American Civil War in order to advance their financial interests." -Wikipedia

Wiki is an intelligence Propaganda front, acknowledged by one of the original founders. Only far-leftist trolls, or government agencies can edit pages and they camp on their fake content. Wikipedea was a great idea in theory, but was quickly taken over by militant leftist logic nonsense. If it matters and its on wiki it is 95 percent lies. Sad.

Governors and citizens will have a say, so not so fast. https://shorturl.at/kD3IZ

Expand full comment

The only governor who will have a say is Kathy Hochul.

The citizens on the jury already had their say.

Expand full comment

She does not control the purse strings of other states. The jury is not at fault for following instructions without a hard copies of said instructions.

Expand full comment

The purse strings of other states are completely irrelevant to a conviction in a state court, where the only state that's relevant is New York. Federalism and all ;)

While not being able to have a hard copy of the jury instructions in the deliberation room is a quirk of NY law, it didn't make a difference because they could (and did) ring the bell and have the judge read them back to them in the courtroom.
