I heard that they are able to trace these calls. I hope they catch the coward and he gets to share a cell with the orange one. Be safe, we need you.

I will say that shaken/stir has the opportunity to stomp out the telcos that are laundering these calls into the PSTN - eventually. Just 4-5 years ago, Verizon often let you mask out as whatever you wanted from your PBX (I know this because I regularly had 4 digit extensions going out as the mask inadvertently). After the new FCC regs rolled out, that stopped immediately. Small telcos were exempted from shaken/stir initially, but if they're found allowing abusive calls too often, they can be forced to implement it.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were workarounds for it but my point is, there's political and regulatory momentum in addressing this problem so maybe it's not all hopeless.
