Would it be possible for someone with the LP to call to discuss the cost of producing one of your trucks that could be used in central Texas?

Thanks

Scott O. Shaffer

I love following you and all LP people. I can’t afford any money and I am Canadian so I don’t think it’s allowed to give.I did give to Obamas campaign but they returned it to me. Keep giving ‘em hell, Rick!

Watched an old Norm Macdonald riff on Bill Cosby's downfall etc. The discussion arose about what was the worst thing, ruined career, character, Etc, no. it was the rape!!

I can envision this single strand of DNA wilting hearing his old man lambasting him for losing his fortune on such contemptable act.

Thank you so much AI

When will people stop using phrase

the lesser of two evils?.

There is but ONE EVIL and it’s Trump. (Still working on that idea with my daughter). Age is moot at this point.

( sorry if a repeat to msg sent earlier ). This one less wordy, probably better.

What has galled me for years is that people see politics through the frame of consumer choice, like why is it only Coke or Pepsi and what happened to RC Cola? It doesn't help that recent marketing has made brand choice a form of virtue signaling -- choose this brand because it best reflects your lifestyle. This utterly infuriated me about Bernie supporters. "I wanna vote for somebody who reflects all my virtuous, correct beliefs and if they don't, I'll just stay home."

I couldn't have been a bigger Elizabeth Warren superstan in the '20 primary. When the centrists dropped out to consolidate the anti-Bernie vote and then Liz dropped out shortly after, I was gutted. I cried for a weekend. But I didn't have the slightest problem afterwards getting on the Joe Train and working my butt off for him in the general election.

One thing that could mitigate this, but every state would have to do it, is to adopt IRV (Instant Runoff Voting). That way, you could vote for your favorite flavor and put one of the "lesser evils" (who you know damn well is going to win) as your second choice. IRV is what ditched Sarah Palin and made Mary Peltola the only Democrat in the Alaska delegation.

i agree, and yet, to listen to the MAGA mob, Biden is the evil one. I think only the demise of the Big Orange Psychopath will break the Trump Trance. Let's all send him a truckload of Big Macs. Or maybe Big Whoppers!

Oh what an evil narcissist who would destroy his country for his own personal ends. And his sycophantic political boot-lickers - what a cowardly lot. And his fanatical followers! History will not look kindly on this American episode.

Bravo for this. The quotes are important to keep very visible. Perhaps you can contact the Biden campaign and they can make an ad out of it on repeat. Absolutely love the trucks with Fred’s message for all to see.

I’m grateful for the information you provide and not in the slightest concerned about typos during a bumpy flight. Thank you for all you do.

I'm really wondering who "Mercedes" is? His reptilian brain always slips and says what is really on his mind, or in this case who he is thinking about. It's obviously not Melania.

The truck is such a nice touch. Coat the knife with hot sauce, stick it in and twist!

I'm literally expecting the R convention to become a Nuerenberg rally. ONE PARTY! ONE PEOPLE! ONE LEADER!

But you know, I still think he's going to lose. He's not convincing anyone new and It feels like he's slowly hemorrhaging support with his antics and trials and brain-glitches.

I love the Fred ad. DFG lived his entire life in fear of his father. and as a psychologists I understand how DFG's personality was formed by Fred's cruelty and Maryann's absence. DFG lived for some sort of acknowledgment and praise but received none. The rejection of being sent to boarding school confirmed his bullying traits and created the monster we all know today. This ad strikes at the heart of DFG's nightmares and he decompensates further each time he sees it. Keep up the good work TLP! He'll stumble and expose more of his psychopathy every time he hears Fred' voice.

Carol, how much more can he "expose more of his psychopathy"? I've called him a psychopath from Day One, and he's reinforced that every day. Anyone who doesn't see Trump as a full-fledged psychopath has just closed their mind to reality. Here's a court-approved forensic Psychopathy test:

https://neofascism.substack.com/p/is-donald-trump-a-psychopath

I score him 7 out of 7.

You know when the election runup moves from primary mode to general, Trump will moderate his tone and insist that all these bad sounding ideas were just jokes, misinterpretations, misquotations, or Dem plots. The CPAC loonies (most anyway) will understand and backtrack in parallel. Haley and the rest of the sometime-anti-Trumpers will bend the knee. It will all come back together again. The voters will forget. Kind of dark for a Sunday. Welcome to LA, Rick.

Expand full comment

he's playing the wink-and-nod game now for the base: I'll say what I gotta say to win, but believe me, I'm with youz guys. Trust me.

Expand full comment

Trump is constitutionally incapable at this point of moderating his tone.

Expand full comment

Mark my words. He will. He has smart people running his campaign. Even anti-Trumpers will admit that. They'll help keep him in check. He will certainly go outside the boundaries they establish on occasion but he and his cult are well-rehearsed at covering for these small blunders with "that's not what he meant" or "you obviously suffer from TDS" or "Biden does that too" kinds of response. Fox News and the rest of his media enablers know how to do this without being prompted.

Expand full comment

You're talking about the Trump enabling apparatus, not Trump himself. He's too far gone from the stress of having to fork out massive cash for appeals that he doesn't have, plus all the criminal trials, at least one of which is firmly set for a month from now. He has noticeably deteriorated in his speech and thought patterns and he looks terrible, his bronzer becoming more and more like Kabuki makeup.

The FOX clowns and his assorted fluffers can try to spin it all they want, but Trump is not going to stop making the election about pure personal vengeance, absent of anything like a message that could draw new people in.

Expand full comment

I agree that he'll double down on the vengeance because it is part of what makes the voters ignore all his crimes. As long as he successfully portrays it all as a result of institutional abuse of power, he plays into the voters' desires. They all distrust government and established power. The GOP has been working on that since Reagan.

All we can hope for really is to peel people off from the fringes of his misinformation cloud and hope that what's left is small enough that he loses the election. Even if that happens, we're not out of the woods. They will cheat in whatever ways they can to throw the election into turmoil. Since 2020, we know about some of these ways but I'm also sure they have some others up their sleeves that may surprise us (AI, Russia). They weren't ready in 2020 but they will be this time around.

Expand full comment

You're assuming that we haven't learned a few tricks since that time and that we don't have effective counter-strategies the way we didn't in '16. We're going to be hypervigilant about all the things you mentioned.

Doubling down on the vengeance as part of a tu-quoque fingerpointing strategy has a diminishing return. Normal people hear "but mommy, Jimmy hit me first" and wonder what this histrionic protestation of innocence is trying to hide. One or two indictments might be politically motivated, but 91? A jury verdict for rape and defamation, another judgment for defamation, a massive jury judgment for clawbacks from business fraud, none of which are even remotely traceable to Joe Biden? And the GOP's Joe Biden impeachment whataboutery falling completely apart? No, this plays to nobody but his established Kool Aid customers.

And I was speaking more about the messenger than the message. Trump is a _mess_ these days. He's been in a rapid, visible decline. Even the darkly brilliant and disciplined Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles can't fix this.

Let's hope you're right.

Am I wrong in thinking that, while Trump has won these primaries, he’s not quite the draw he once was? Nevada was the exception to the rule because they changed the rules. These are not blow-out wins. Let him babble.

his base is rock solid (they're all-in) but it isn't growing,.

I think he'd be a goner for sure, except for the unease on the Dem side. And those 3rd party candidates.

I'm not counting out the Big Orange Psychopath ... or his lying, cheating enablers at the vote-counting level.

Only a massive Blue tsunami will sink the Trump ship once and for all.

It's up to Dems to get the hell to the polls and dump Trump.

The clueless cast of characters at CPAC says it all, and they said the quiet part out loud about how they envision our future.

“Welcome to the end of democracy. “We didn’t get all the way there on January 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it and replace it with this, right here.”

—Jack Posobieck

They are referring to replacing our democracy with a theocracy. The Handmaid’s Tale is closer to reality than most people think!

And notice how all the republicans are now in favor of IVF treatments, even though, it goes against their own core principles of when life begins.

Not all the embryo’s during IVF treatment will be used, and if life begins at conception or fertilization, they are allowing babies to be killed.

So essentially, Johnson and the rest of the looney-toon party’s beliefs are morally flexible, and only apply when it suits them. More hypocrisy from these religious wing-nuts!

Just remember, if Trump wins, it’s the judges that will ultimately make the difference over time. Presidents come and go, but federal justices are like herpes, they live with you forever.

Let that sink in!…:)

If the Democrats win the Presidency (please God), the House (very likely), and the Senate (a hard climb), one crucial reform (probably requiring the termination of the Senate filibuster) would be of the judicial system, particularly the Supreme Court. Change lifetime tenure to fifteen years (with perhaps the possibility of a second term to encourage good behavior) and create a permanent Standing Committee in Congress to oversee the ethical behavior of the Court members. The assumption that the Judiciary is apolitical has proven to be preposterous and dangerous.

Expand full comment

I'll see that and raise it to stacking the court. There are 13 federal districts, each overseen by one Supreme Court justice. That makes 13 SCOTUS members a natural fit.

Oh, and toss in making DC and Puerto Rico states while we're at it.
